Services

The Fox Chapel Area School District has an elementary school counselor in each of its four buildings. They provide the following services:

Guidance Lessons

The school counselors, adhering to ASCA standards, address student needs through K-5 Classroom guidance lessons. The lessons focus on topics such as making and maintaining friendships, problem-solving, conflict resolution, bullying and career awareness. Additional lessons are provided based on teacher input and student need.

Small Groups

Small groups are based on student need/teacher referral. The skill-building groups may focus on topics such as: social skills, friendship skills, positive choices, changing families, study skills, anger management and self-concepts.
 

Schoolwide Initiatives

School counselors participate and support all schoolwide initiatives.

Consultation

School counselors regularly confer with teachers, parents, administration, and outside agencies/organizations.
